Calculations

Use the Calculations tab to create, edit, or delete custom field calculations. Create calculations using numerical fields from any available field list within a single database. The calculation applies to the selected database only.

Use the calculations in Custom Reports by:

    • Selecting the -Custom Calculations- field list within the Custom Field List folder.

or

Note: Custom calculations are not available for Schedule D, F, or S.

Access Calculations from the Create Field Lists option within the Manage Lists menu.

    1. Select a database to access company specific data fields.
      Standard Field Lists from the selected database populate in the Available Field Lists section.

    2. Set your calculation year selection option and create the calculation using:

Use any of following options to assist in modifying calculations. In order to modify a Data Period and calculation year selection option, clear selection and add the field with the appropriate selection.

Set your report formatting options for the calculation.

    1. Specify if the calculation should the be formatted as a Number, Percentage, or Ratio in the Result Format drop-down.

    2. Specify the number of decimal places.

Save the calculation as Final or a Work in Progress. Only one calculation can be saved as a Work in Progress.  

    1. Select Final or Work in Progress from the drop-down.

    2. If saving the calculation as Final, type a Calculation name in the text box.  

    3. Click the Save button.  

Calculations are saved within the -Custom Calculations- list in the Custom Field Lists folder. An additional Custom Calculations folder is available on the Calculations tab for the database that applies to the calculation. The saved calculation is available for use in Custom Reports.

    1. Select the calculation for edit from the Custom Calculations tree node within the Available Field Lists section. Only calculations for the database selected display.

    2. Click the Edit Calculation button.

    3. Modify the calculation as necessary.

    4. Save the calculation.

    1. Click the Load Work In Progress button.

    2. Modify the calculation as necessary.

    3. Save the calculation.

    1. Select the calculation for deletion from the Custom Calculations tree node within the Available Field Lists section. Only calculations for the database selected display.

    2. Click the Delete Calculation button.

    1. Select the calculation for renaming from the Custom Calculations tree node. Only calculations for the database selected display.

    2. Type a new name in the Rename text box.

    3. Click the Rename button.

Create a calculation using multiple saved custom calculations.

    1. Select - Custom Calculations- from the Custom Field List tree node within the Available Field Lists section. Calculations for the database selected display in the Available Fields section.

Include a saved calculation in your equation.

    1. Select the calculation from the Available Fields section.

    2. Click the Add Selection button.
      The calculation name is added to the equation.

After all components of the calculation are added, save the calculation.
