Custom List Manager

Use the List Manager to manage your custom Company, Field, State, Line and Criteria lists.

Access the Custom List Manager from the BestLink Ribbon.

 

    1. Select the desired list type from the List Type section. All associated lists populate in the My custom lists section. All lists created in BestLink Advantage and BestAlert display.

    1. Select the View Selected List text link from the My custom lists section.
      The list items display in the Custom List Items window.

    2. Click the Close button to return to the List Manager.

    1. Click the Create List button. The appropriate editor displays. Select and save the items for your custom list or summation. Summations are available for companies, states, and lines.

Modify a custom list.

    1. From the My Custom Lists section, select the custom list you wish to edit.

    2. Click the Edit List button. The appropriate list editor displays.

    3. Modify your custom list as necessary and save the changes.

Only the creator of the shared custom list can delete the custom list. Lists deleted in BestLink for Excel will also be removed from BestLink Advantage.

    1. From the My Custom Lists section, select the custom list(s) you wish to delete.
      See Selecting List Items for additional information.

    2. Click the Delete List button.

    3. Click Yes to delete the list(s) or select No to take no action.

    1. From the My custom lists section, select the custom list you wish to rename.

    2. Click the Rename List button. The Rename Custom List box appears.  

    3. Modify the list name in the Enter a new name for your custom list textbox.

    4. Click the OK button to complete the changes.

Import a custom list to BestLink for Excel.

    1. Click the Import List button.

      • From File: Import lists from Best's Financial Suite products.

        1. Company List Only: Select From File and click the Import button.

        2. The Import A.M. Best Custom List dialog opens. Select the location of the data for import.

        3. Select the list for import.

        4. Click the Open button.
          The Import Status window displays a listing of items that are not available within BestLink.

        5. Click the OK button. The companies not imported appear on a new spreadsheet.

      • From Spreadsheet: Company List Only: Import a listing of companies from a spreadsheet to BestLink for Excel.

Important:

        1. Select the From Spreadsheet option.

        2. Enter the cell address of the first AMB Number for the company list in Start Cell.

        3. Enter a name for the list.

        4. Click the Import button.

Export BestLink for Excel lists for use in Best's Financial Suite products.

    1. Click the Export List button.
      The Export A.M. Best Custom List dialog opens.

    2. Browse to the location for the data export.

    3. Click the OK button.
      A export confirmation message box displays.

Share custom field lists, custom company lists and company summations with your coworkers. Shared lists can be used in any BestLink reporting feature.

    1. From the My Custom Lists section, select the custom list(s)/summations you wish to share.
      See Selecting List Items for additional information.

    2. Click the Share List button.
      A message displays stating the sharing is complete. Shared lists may not be immediately available to subscribers.  

Shared Lists are identified with Yes in the Shared column on the Custom List Manager.

To use the list in any BestLink reporting feature:

Remove a shared field list or company list/summation from the Shared List folder. The revoked list is still available for your personal use, but is no longer available to other users. Only the creator of the shared custom list can revoke the shared status.

    1. From the My Custom Lists section, select the custom list(s)/summations you wish to revoke.
      See Selecting List Items for additional information.

    2. Click the Revoke List button.
      The custom list is available for selection in BestLink for Excel from the Custom Lists folder.
