How is the data for Best's Executive Summary Reports collected and validated?
A.M. Best collects annual and quarterly statement data from thousands of companies (property/casualty, life and health companies; HMOs; alternative-market entities and others). The data is prepared and submitted on software programs (such as BestESP Services) as defined by the requirements of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data, we perform an exhaustive series of inter- and intra-page and current- to prior-year crosschecks. Major errors or inconsistencies that cannot be rectified by A.M. Best are reviewed with the insurer for further clarification. We lead the industry in cross-checking calculations, devoting vast resources to the data validation effort.

What's the difference between an AMB Credit Report and a Best's Executive Summary Report?
AMB Credit Reports feature qualitative information (analyst's commentary and extensive text descriptions) along with an organization's current Best's Rating, selected quantitative data and key performance indicators. Data published in AMB Credit Reports cannot be exported separately for further analysis.
Best's Executive Summary Reports focus on in-depth quantitative data drawn directly from insurers' regulatory statement filings. Data from these reports can be imported into several formats that are useful for individual analysis.
