Northup is seeking to regain the U.S. House seat she represented from 1997 until losing to Yarmuth in 2006. Ran unsuccessfully to challenge former Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher in the 2007 Republican primary. Prior to her tenure in Congress, Northup served in the Kentucky General Assembly from 1987 until 1996.
