Grandson of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney, Tom Rooney was a college football player before going on to be a staffer for former Sen. Connie Mack. He served as an attorney in the U.S. Army JAG Corps and then as an assistant attorney general under former state Attorney General Charlie Crist, now the governor. He now works in private practice.
