Moore was an assistant attorney general for the State of Kansas before being elected district attorney for Johnson County in 1976, serving three consecutive terms. First elected to the U. S. House in November 1999 and re-elected four times. Moore is the policy co-chairman for the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of fiscally-conservative Democrats.
