Current Office: Mayor of Anchorage, Alaska
Elected to the Anchorage Assembly at age 26 and served nearly 10 years there. He was elected assembly chairman three times. In 2003 Begich beat an incumbent mayor and two-term former mayor to become Anchorage's mayor, and was re-elected three years later.
