Company Overview

Company Overview provides a detailed snapshot of the selected insurer's financial strength, key financial data, and industry standing. Analytical financial data, charts, and graphs provide a quick visual representation of the company's performance. Discover which companies are in the same corporate entity. Determine the stability of insurer's financial strength with 25 years of Best's Financial Strength Ratings. View the company's financial status for the last three years.

Access Company Overview from the BestLink Ribbon.  

• Select a company:

See Locate companies for methods on creating company lists.  

1. From the Company List Type drop-down list, select Custom Lists, Shared Lists or Criteria Lists. Select Custom Lists if you wish to view -Search Results-.
   The selected Company List Type populates the Company Lists drop-down list.

2. From the Company Lists drop-down list, select the company list you wish to view.
   The selected company list populates the Companies drop-down list.

3. From the Companies drop-down list, select a company to view the company overview for the selected company.
   Use the Previous and Next buttons to assist in company navigation.

• View the selected company's information from one of the following tabs:

• Overview

  Overview features general information, additional addresses, Best's Ratings, analytical financial data, charts, and graphs for a quick visual representation of the company's performance.

  • Company Information

  • Country Risk - Click the country listed in the Company's address section to view the AMB Country Risk Report. See the Country Risk overview for details.

  • Quantitative Analysis Report (QAR) - The Quantitative Analysis Report (QAR) provides a comprehensive quantitative review of key financial and operating performance measures within three critical evaluation areas: Profitability; Investments and Liquidity; and Leverage/Capitalization. Select the appropriate Quarterly or Annual link to access the report for Statement File Property/Casualty, Life/Health, and Health databases.

  • Company Attributes

  • Best's Ratings

  • Key Financial Indicators, Top Lines of Business, Top States of Business, Investment Portfolio Analysis - View a brief summary of the selected insurer’s financial data, as available, for US companies.

  • Key Financial Indicators, 3 Year Change in Capital & Surplus, 3 Year Net Premiums Written to Surplus, Investment Portfolio Analysis - View a brief summary of the selected insurer’s financial data, as available, for Non-US companies.

• Availability

  Availability displays the company's data availability per product.

• Reports

  Reports lists all available company specific reports for the selected company. The reports provide sophisticated analysis and allow you to rank, compare, and evaluate the company at a glance. Report access is available with the corresponding Statement File subscription.  

  1.  Choose from the following report display options:

  • Show available reports for the selected company: View only the reports for which you have a subscription.

  or

  • Show all reports for the selected company: View all reports available in BestLink for Excel regardless of subscriptions.

  2.  Select the Standard Reports you wish to generate.
  Click a report name to view details about the report including a description, the number of data periods included in the report, and the database source. See Standard Reports for descriptions.

  • Click the corresponding checkbox to select a report.

  or

  • Click the checkbox for the report header to select all the available reports with that category.

  3.  Financials - Global Only: Select the currency for Global reports.

  4.  Click Create Report.

• States Licensed

  States Licensed - View a list of the states in which the company is licensed to do business. This tab is available for US companies only.

• Country Risk

  Country Risk - View the AMB Country Risk Report for the company's country of domicile. Reports for the surrounding countries also display. This tab is available for Non-US companies.  See the Country Risk overview for details.

• News

  Access Best's Insurance News & Analysis articles and Press Releases pertaining to the company. Access is subscription based.  

• Corporate Structure and Data Structure

  Corporate Structure displays the selected company’s business hierarchy including a company’s parent and ultimate parent as well as a complete list of other companies that are part of the same corporate entity. The Corporate Structure displays both operating and non-operating companies. Available information on the Corporate Structure includes AMB number, the Company name, the country/state of domicile, and the percentage owned for the companies. Only the linked companies are available within BestLink.

  Data Structure provides a full Corporate Structure view, including AMB Financial Groups & Subgroups listed in order of hierarchy with their associated member companies. Available information on the Data Structure includes the AMB number, the Company name, the Business Type, Consolidation Type, Statement Type with the latest statement data available for the company , and country/state of domicile. Only the linked companies are available within BestLink.

  Available options include:

  • Click a linked company to view the Company Overview for that company.

  • Click the Create Custom List button to replace your current -Search Results- with all linked companies within the selected structure.

• Rating History

  Rating History displays the company's financial performance over time. View up to 25 years of A.M. Best Ratings for the selected company.

• BCAR History

  BCAR History displays the company's Best's Capital Adequacy Ratio over time. BCAR compares an insurer's adjusted surplus relative to the required capital necessary to support its operating and investment risks. See Rating Methodology for additional information on BCAR.

• Financial Overview

  Financial Overview displays the financial status for the last three years of a company's operation. This information quickly gives you a clear picture of a company's financial performance during its recent history. The Financial Overview displays selected financial data from the Statement File - Global database. Use the Currency button to instantly view the customized data in the desired currency.

   

• Export Options:

Export a specific tab or all tabs for the current company or company list.

1. Select one of the following export options.

   • Export the current tab for the current company

   • Export the current tab for the entire company list (limit 200)

   • Export all tabs for the current company

   • Export all tabs for the entire company list (limit 25)

2. Click the Export button.
